A summer's worth of fun every day!
Bring your friends and meet some new ones while participating in outrageously fun activities like sports, games, swimming, archery, fishing, computers, team work skills, cookouts, nature study, music, drama, arts and crafts, and much more! The Howell Recreation Summer Day Camp is jam packed with a variety of activities and non-stop fun to keep children ages 5-10 active throughout the summer. Each week will have its own unique theme that will include character development (caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility) rolled into every activity.
Weather permitting we’ll take a short hike to Howell City Park for fun in the sun and swim in Thompson Lake. Campers are required to bring their own lunch and drink each day to camp. We will however have snacks and drinks to keep their energy up throughout the day. Our mature counselors and staff are trained in CPR and First Aid, carefully selected, screened, and have outgoing personalities.
Howell Recreation Summer Day Camp offers you the opportunity to enroll your kids for the entire summer or pick the weeks or days that work best for you. Camp will begin at 8:00am and end at 5:00pm. For those working parents we offer the option to add our AM or PM extenders to your child’s summer camp day. AM extender begins at 7:00am and the PM extender goes until 6:00pm. The Howell Recreation Summer Day Camp can accommodate a maximum of 30 children each week. Registrations will be taken on a first come basis with weekly registrations taking precedence over daily drop offs. Campers who reside in the City of Howell, Oceola, Marion, and Genoa Townships will receive a resident rate on weekly and daily camp fees. Families who are registering more than one child will receive $10 off each additional campers weekly base camp rates. There are no sibling discounts on AM/PM extenders or daily drop-offs. All campers must pay a one-time/summer non-refundable $20 registration fee. This covers administrative costs, insurance, supplies, and a camp t-shirt. To reserve your space, campers must also pay a non-refundable $25/week deposit for each week of anticipated participation. Payment in full for weekly camp is due two weeks prior to the start of the week of participation. There will be no refunds if a camper doesn’t attend camp for one or more days during the week regardless of reason. Requests for refunds of weekly camp fees will be honored if the request is received in writing at least 10 working days before the start of the week of participation. Refund requests made the week before, the week of, or after the week has ended will not be honored. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS.
Adventures in Wonderland
This year, come fall down the rabbit hole and join the Howell Recreation Summer Day Camp in a summer filled with Adventures in Wonderland. Don’t be late for these very important dates packed with fun and adventure! Campers will put their imaginations to good use as they explore Wonderland in a whole new way. All summer long campers will be celebrating their un-birthdays, making crafts with Cheshire Cat, playing games with the Queen of Hearts, exploring science with the Mad Hatter, and so much more! Campers will be outside exploring nature and enjoying the fresh air. We'll also have a scavenger hunt and make bird feeders!
Week 4 7/8-7/12 Very Happy Unbirthday
(Holiday Week)
Each day we'll be celebrating a different holiday such as Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, Birthdays, and Halloween! Games and activities will be planned to go along with each holiday.
Week 5 7/15-7/19 Mad Hatter Campers
(Science Week)
Each day campers will explore a new science project and even make some things to take home. Make your own playdough, lava lamps, ice cream, volcanoes, discover corn starch and water, see an egg get sucked into a bottle, and more!
Week 6 7/22-7/26 Queens Croquet
(Sports Week)
Campers will play all their favorite sports and maybe even some new and unusual ones such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, kickball, croquet, and more!
Week 7 7/29-8/2 Tea Time Fun
(Water Week)
Campers will be exploring different water activities throughout the week including water relay races, slip n' slide, a foam machine, swimming at the lake, and more!
Week 8 8/5-8/9 Tweedle Dee &
Tweedle Dum
(Spirit Week)
Each day campers can dress up for camp in these funky spirit days including pajama day, favorite sport day, crazy hair day, funky sock day, and favorite color day!
Week 9 8/12-8/16 King of Hearts
(Game Week)
Campers will play their favorite indoor and outdoor games and even learn some new ones like a connect four tournament, tag, capture the flag, and they can even bring in their favorite board came!
Week 10 8/19-8/23 Happily Ever After
(Campers Choice)
All through the summer we'll be keeping track of the camper's top choice of activities so that the last week we can bring them all back for one fun filled week of everyone's favorite activities!

Summer Day Camp Field Trip Information
The base camp weekly rate INCLUDES a weekly field trip. Our day camp weekly field trip will be on Thursday unless otherwise noted. An additional fee of $15 will be collected for those daily campers who attend camp on the field trip day.
