Teen Cooking 101 (6th-12th Grade)

Teens can learn to cook a delicious meal with chef Chad at Chemung Hills! Each month we'll have a different theme and a different menu.

Dungeons & Dragons One Shot Series (6th-12th Grade)

Ready to test your skills in a fast-paced, single-session Dungeons & Dragons adventure? This one-shot is designed for semi-experienced players looking to dive into an epic quest without the long-term commitment. Bring your own pre-made character or choose from our ready-to-play options. The adventure runs from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with lunch included.

Space is limited—secure your spot before it's too late! This program is open to all Middle School and High School students.

Deadline to register is July 4th (Session 2).

Teen Outdoor Adventure: Kayaking (6th-12th Grade)

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure with The Hive! We're heading to Ann Arbor for an exhilarating day of kayaking at Argo Canoe & Kayak. Experience the thrill of paddling down the scenic Gallup River with your friends. Don’t forget your swimsuit and prepare for an exciting, fun-filled journey on the water!

Safety Camp (Ages 3-6)

Help your little one build confidence and learn essential safety skills in a fun, age-appropriate environment! This 4-day camp introduces kids ages 3–6 to important topics through hands-on activities, stories, and visits from local emergency personnel. Campers will explore fire and police safety, how to safely cross the street, what to do around downed wires, and how to stay safe around water and unfamiliar dogs—all while making friends and having fun.

Babysitter Bootcamp (includes CPR and First aid) (Ages 12+)

Prepare young caregivers to become confident, capable babysitters with our comprehensive Babysitter Certification. This engaging and hands-on training program is designed for teens and preteens who want to learn essential child care skills, emergency preparedness, and professional responsibility. Each participant will receive a link for the online portion of CPR & First Aid. The online portion will need to be completed prior to class. Please verify there is a good email for participants to receive the link.

Participants will gain:

  • Certification in Pediatric CPR and First Aid, meeting national safety standards

  • Practical skills for safely caring for infants and children, including feeding, diapering, and bedtime routines

  • Tips on managing behavior, entertaining children, and handling common babysitting challenges

  • Guidance on starting and marketing a babysitting business

  • Confidence to act in emergencies and make smart decisions under pressure

Nerf Nights (Ages 7-10)

Join us for our nerf nights monthly at The Hive! We will play multiple rounds of nerf just for fun- no winners, no losers, just nerf or nothin! Participants are welcomed to bring their own nerf blasters if they would like as long as they fit the regular nerf darts, please DO NOT bring darts/ammo. We will have plenty of extra nerf blasters and darts to go around.

Fall Start Smart Soccer (Ages 3-5)

Video Gains - Workout Sampler (6th-12th Grade)

Level up your fitness with this five-week video game-inspired workout series! Each session connects gameplay with fun, physical challenges to keep teens moving, competing, and having a blast.

Weekly Themes:

Week 1: Mario Kart Power Circuit – Race and recover with cardio and leg strength based on your finish.

Week 2: Smash Bros Showdown – Team battles followed by full-body workouts based on match results.

Week 3: Pokémon GO Fitness Quest – Walk and explore while completing outdoor movement challenges.

Week 4: Tetris Balance Challenge – Match game pieces to movements that build focus and coordination.

Week 5: Just Dance Battle Royale – End with a dance-off packed with rhythm, endurance, and fun.

Strong"Her" - Workout Sampler (6th-12th Grade)

This 5-week series empowers teens through movement, reflection, and confidence-building workouts. Each session includes an intro, a 35–45 minute workout, and time for journaling and reflection.

Weekly Themes:

  • Week 1: Bodyweight Bootcamp – Build full-body strength using only your body.

  • Week 2: Power Yoga – Stretch it out with a focus on flexibility and recovery.

  • Week 3: HIIT Hustle – Push limits with quick, powerful intervals.

  • Week 4: Core Confidence – Strengthen your center for better posture and balance.

  • Week 5: Stretch & Flow – Wind down with mindful movement and mobility.

Solo LEGO Build-Off (Ages 13+)

Get ready for a day full of fun and creativity at Howell Recreation’s Solo LEGO Build-Off! On September 20th, builders will test their skills in a timed LEGO challenge — no teams, just you and your bricks!

Deadline to register is September 12th.

Site: Bennett Rec Center, 925 W. Grand River Ave.
Cost: $40 per person (Resident) / $60 per person (Non-Resident)


Build-Off Competition:

Format: Individual competition (one builder per entry)

LEGO Set: Each participant will receive an identical 300–500 piece LEGO set, which they get to take home after the competition!

Time Limit: 3 hours to complete your build

Judging: Builds will be judged on accuracy

Prizes: Awarded to the top 3 builders

Rules:

The event will follow basic fair play building guidelines. Final details and rules will be sent out at least one week before the competition. Howell Recreation reserves the right to adjust rules as needed to ensure a fun and fair event for everyone. Whether you’re a seasoned LEGO master or just love to build, this event is for you — and you’ll get to keep your LEGO set as a souvenir!
