10am - Competition Starts!

Get ready for a day full of fun and challenge at Howell Recreation’s first-ever Puzzlepalooza! On March 8th, we’ll be hosting a thrilling 1,000-piece puzzle competition and a Puzzle Swap for puzzle enthusiasts of all kinds.

Teams of up to 4 players will compete to complete a 1,000-piece puzzle in just 3 hours. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, so bring your best puzzle-solving skills!

  • Date: March 8th

  • Competition Time: Starts promptly at 10:00 AM

  • Team Size: Maximum of 4 players per team

  • Puzzle: 1,000 pieces (each team's puzzle will be wrapped until the competition starts to ensure fairness)

  • Time Limit: 3 hours to complete the puzzle

  • Prizes: Awarded to the top 3 teams

  • Rules: The event will follow the official USA Jigsaw Puzzle Association (USAJPA) National Competition rules, which can be reviewed here. Howell Recreation reserves the right to modify these rules as needed. Final rules will be sent out no later than one week before the event.

Cost: $50/team (Resident) / $80/team (Non-Resident)

How Winners Are Determined:
If no team completes the puzzle within the 3-hour time limit, winners will be determined based on the number of loose pieces remaining, as defined by the USAJPA.

Age Requirement:
Young participants under the age of 16 are welcome to join the competition, but they must be competing with at least one accompanying adult.

Team Changes:
No changes in team members will be allowed once the competition begins, so make sure your team is set before the start time.

Puzzle Swap:

9am-3pm

In addition to the competition, we’re excited to host a Puzzle Swap for puzzle lovers looking to exchange puzzles with others! The swap will take place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the same day.

  • Swap Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • How It Works: Bring your unwanted puzzles and swap them with others to refresh your collection. It’s a great way to share your love for puzzles and discover new ones! While we will do our best to regulate the quality of the puzzles brought in, it is ultimately up to the swappers to pick and choose which puzzles they wish to swap.

Additionally, we will be seeking puzzle donations to create a small puzzle bank prior to the event. If you have puzzles in good condition that you no longer need, consider donating them to help build our puzzle collection for the swap.
