UPDATE REGARDING STREET SHOES:

Fall and winter weather brings all sorts of rain, mud, snow and salt that can damage the gymnasium floors. Street shoes are not permitted when using the courts. Please bring an extra pair of shoes to wear when using the gym space at the Oceola Community Center. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

About Howell Recreation Youth Sports

The Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority’s Youth Sports Program is designed to allow youth the opportunity to participate in various sporting activities in a non-competitive environment.  All athletes get an equal amount of attention and playing time regardless of ability.  All programs are first-come, first-served. Programs can fill to capacity before the deadline. Random placement determines all teams.  A $10 late fee will be applied to all late registrations based on availability.

Vouchers for $35 will be given to Youth Sports volunteer coaches in good standing at the end of the season. 



Pints & Pickles

5 weeks of Pickleball and Pints!

A great opportunity for you and your 21+ friends to get active on our pickleball courts and reward yourself with a fresh pint following play time! This league will be self officiated and self evaluated. YOU will decide what level you are and in turn what court you will be on. Each person will sign up as an individual, pairs will not be assigned or registered. As this is a recreational no score league, we encourage all participant to play with someone new every time.

Our friends over at Abberant Ale has also secured our Pickle and Pint players with evening food AND drink specials. 

Each participant will receive a t-shirt!

Courts will be open from 5:00pm-6:30pm. A 36 participant cap will ensure all players will be able to play the maximum amount of pickleball while utilizing all 6 courts. 

 **BYOB- With special permission from the Executive Director, beer and wine will be allowed for this league only in limited quantities**

And to top it off... beer AND food specials for the Pickle and Pints players! Pints and Pickle players will receive 1/2 OFF your first 2 beers (when you buy 2) any time from 8:30pm-11pm AND 10% OFF any food purchase after league play (restrictions apply).

Co-Ed MINI Volleyball League (18+)

The Howell Recreation Co-Ed Volleyball League features players 18 years of age and older; we will play at the Oceola Community Center.

*Until further notice: Games will be self-officiated*

Games will be held on Wednesday evenings with start times from 6:30pm - 10:00pm.

*Please note- any change in time or schedule will be addressed prior to season*
6 team MAX for Winter 2025 Mini League!!

Site: Oceola Community Center, 1661 N. Latson Rd.
COST: $275/team (Resident) / $350/team (Non-Resident) (no more than 12 players per team)

Co-Ed Specific RULES:

1. Co-Ed ball may be hit directly across by either male or female team members but if there is more than one hit, a female must touch the ball before it goes over.

2. Co-Ed Inter-Change is allowed. Back row male may block but not attack.

3. Co-Ed Leagues – if your team contacts the ball more than once (after the block) to send it over the net, a female must contact the ball.

4. Teams will consist of a maximum of 6 players (3 men and 3 women) to a minimum of 3 players. You can have more women than men playing on the court but there is a maximum of 3 men players.

Women’s 18+ MINI Volleyball League (18+)

The Howell Recreation Women's Volleyball League features players 18 years of age and older; we will play at the Oceola Community Center.

Co-Ed Youth Travel Volleyball

The Howell Recreation Co-Ed Youth Travel Volleyball League will practice at the Oceola Community Center (1661 N. Latson Rd). Games will be played within Huron Valley, Brighton, Hartland and Howell.

Practices will be held once per week for an hour Monday OR Tuesday from 6-8pm.

Matches will be held on Friday Nights - The first match will begin at 6pm, as the rest will follow.

Our leagues depend on Parent Volunteer Coaches, we appreciate all of the help and hard work put in to this league and would love to have your support!

Youth Spring Soccer

PLEAE NOTE- High School Soccer players are not permitted on this league*

Teams will practice 1 day a week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday), for one hour (between 5:30-7:30 PM) and have 1 scheduled game on Saturdays between 12 PM -3 PM. This is a co-ed league.

Practices begin: Week of Monday, April 14th (no practice for 3-4 Age Group)

First game: Saturday, April 26th 

Requests for coaches, or one other player, must be submitted at the time of registration to be considered.

Please note/list siblings who are in the same age group or other age groups when registering.

Picture Day: 5/17

Last Game: 6/14

*No games 5/3 (Oceola Trash Day) & 5/24 (Memorial Day)
