Oceola Community Center Gym Courts Calendar

UPDATE REGARDING STREET SHOES:

Fall and winter weather brings all sorts of rain, mud, snow and salt that can damage the gymnasium floors. Street shoes are not permitted when using the courts. Please bring an extra pair of shoes to wear when using the gym space at the Oceola Community Center. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Karate for Kids (Ages 4-14)

This program combines two crucial courses into one, Sanchin-Ryu Karate & Self-Defense and Project: Secure Child (child safety).

Students will be trained with proven, age-appropriate techniques that are necessary for kids to protect themselves from attackers. This program is set in a fun yet structured, environment which will give your child a positive outlook on learning a martial art. Participants will achieve great self confidence and leadership through the physical techniques, mental strategies, drills and exercises they are lead through.

Uniforms are available, but not required.

Karate for Families (Ages 4 & Up)

A parent and child program for all ages! You must register each family member. Set in a fun, non-competitive and informative atmosphere, this program allows parents to learn alongside their children. Physical techniques will be instructed along with drills and exercises, to help you have a positive experience with your self defense education. Sanchin-Ryu will teach you how to use your whole body, rather than just certain muscle groups, so size and stature are not an issue. 

Uniforms are available, but not required.

Spring Break ALL Sports Camp (Ages 8-12)

Join Howell Recreation and Sport Manager Nikki for an exciting Spring Break experience! From Monday to Thursday, this camp is designed for kids ages 8-12 who are eager to learn new skills or sharpen their abilities. Each day, we’ll focus on a different sport, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. With fun drills and activities, participants will have the chance to show off their moves while making new friends. Don't miss out on this action-packed camp where fun and learning go hand in hand.

Week Schedule:

  • Monday 3/24 - Basketball

  • Tuesday 3/25 - Soccer

  • Wednesday 3/26 - Volleyball

  • Thursday 3/27 - Pickleball and Pizza!

Each day your athlete will check-in in the fieldhouse (1661 N.Latson Rd). As a group, we will warm up and then focus close to an hour and a half on skill set drills and group activities, the last hour will be set for game play. On Thursday, March 27th we will wrap up early with a pizza party complimentary of Hungry Howies Hartland.

Start Smart Soccer

Are you ready to embark on a soccer journey with your little one? Start Smart Soccer is not just a program for children ages 3-5; it’s an interactive experience designed for both parent and child to delve into the world of soccer together. Don’t let this opportunity pass you by. Join Start Smart Soccer today and kick-start your child’s soccer journey while building unforgettable moments together!

Deadline to register is April 4th.

Program Highlights:

· Dribbling

Spring Youth Tennis

Tennis provides numerous benefit's beyond good health and activity. Kids learn teamwork, communication, balance, agility, hand-eye coordination, problem- solving and self-reliance, all while having fun and making friends. Midwest Youth Team Tennis uses smaller courts, shorter racquets and lower bouncing balls, so youth players will achieve greater physical activity and feel successful at tennis from the start. NO racquet, no problem, USTA will provide one along with a participation gift.

Includes a team t-shirt, age-appropriate tennis racquet, and a player gift!

Registration will open early February through USTA and midwestteamtennis.com.

Late registration can be done through Howell Recreation after April 14th, 2025
