Million Dollar Quartet at Turkeville

On December 4, 1956, a twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records for one of the greatest jam sessions ever. This smash-hit sensation features an incredible score of rock, R&B and country hits, including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Walk the Line,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Hound Dog,” and more.

The Grand Experience Trip

A 50+ experience at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island

The Mackinac Island Grand Experience is a unique opportunity to stay at one of the finest historic hotel properties in America. Step back in time and experience a way of life that has all but disapeared. Experience the charm of riding in a horse-drawn carriage, enjoy afternoon tea in the parlor with new friends, or watch a beautiful sunset from the iconic Grand Hotel porch. Inside, explore the Grand Hotel with its vast array of antiques, art, and other surprises. Outside, explore the beauty nature provides.

Howell Recreation is able to offer this opportunity through its affiliation with mParks. The Grand Experience Trip is for individuals 50 years or older; companions and caregivers under 50 are welcome.

  • Accomodations for 4 days and 3 nights at the Grand Hotel.

  • Round trip ferry boat service

  • Round trip horse-drawn carriage to and from the Grand Hotel and Ferry Docks

Registration Information:

Registration begins January 2nd, 2024. This is a very popular trip and will fill up. Registration is first-come, first-served. You must register in person at the Oceola Community Center.

A deposit of 50% is due at the time of registration. You can also pay in full. Cash or check only. Checks payable to HAPRA. The remaning balance is due August 14th. There are no refunds for this trip.

Travel Insurance:

The purchase of travel insurance is between the traveller and the insurance company. Cancellation insurance is recommended. Information regarding an insurance company recommended by mParks is available at the Oceola Community Center.

Room Accomodations:

All rooms will be assigned by mParks by “luck of the draw”. Barrer free rooms are available for individuals in wheelschairs. Rooms near an elevator may be assigned for individuals with walking difficulties. It is imperitive that you indicate if you need any special accomodations when you register.
