Teen Caricature Workshop: Drawn and Get Drawn!

Is your teen ready to learn to sketch cartoon faces quickly? Artist Andrew Sigman breaks down the process, making it fun and easy. There will be a short class showing how to visualize the face in a simplified way, what is needed to capture a person’s likeness, and tips so one can make fast decisions.

The remainder of time will be spent putting this new knowledge into practice, with participants drawing as many caricatures as they can with supportive and helpful critiques. Andrew will draw each student, and each student will draw all the other students as well. Kids will leave with increased knowledge about drawing, a caricature of themselves by Andrew, and the caricatures their classmates created on cardstock and in plastic sleeves. Origami Workshop: Fold & Relax (Ages 11+)

Origami is a traditional Japanese art or technique of folding paper into forms of animals, plants, jewelry boxes,

envelopes, and more. One of the primary benefits of making origami is its ability to promote relaxation. The

concentration and focus required can reduce anxiety and calm the mind. Repetitive folding of paper can even be meditative, similar to yoga. Andrew Sigman will teach how to make a variety of finished origami projects, fold by fold, making sure that each participant does each fold before moving on to the next fold. There can be a powerpoint, so participants can see large descriptions of each fold on the screen as well. Everyone will leave with increased knowledge about origami and all the creations they made. All materials will be provided.
